Pond Walls Collapsed Ideas needed Can't Post

Greetings. I have a pond that is 4.5 ft deep and due to the extremely large amount of rain we have received this fall, one of the walls caved in. I am looking for suggestions on the best way to coorect this and stop it from happening. I have added grading all around the yard so the water will not channel towards the pond again... but I want to secure the 4.5 ft walls of the pond. I was thinking of using 4x4 pressure treadted posts with 1" pressure treated plywood to build a wall all around the pond, any thoughts?
Thanks
Jim

Hi Jim, may we have some details about your pond? How is it constructed? Concrete, liner, gunnite, brick etc? Vertical walls or sloped? What type of soil do you have? Sand, loam, clay? What is the length of the wall that collapsed? Did it crack from the base of the wall or halfway up?
Trying to understand the nature of the problem.

The walls caved in!? I can't imagine how a simple water buildup can cause it to collapse. I'm no engineer, but I would think nothing short of a jackhammer or a wrecking ball can cause it to collapse unless the cement integrity is really bad.

Maybe I'm jumping to conclusions, but I'm thinking the obvious reason why it collapsed is because the contractor who built it used either substandard material or messed up the concrete mixture or both. Or you didn't use steel bars to reinforce the concrete. the ratio should be 1-2-3. 1 bag cement, 2 bag sand, 3 bags gravel, plus mix it with one bag of water proofing powder like Sahara.

More info needed.
