Pondmaster filter help Can't Post

I have been using a Pondmster 1000 w/UV for a few years, and not happy with it yet. I recently upgraded into a new 800-900 gal. pond 3 weeks ago. By reading all these wonderful post, I have learned that my pump was way to big. I down sized to a 1200 g/hr and have it valved down so it out puts about 900 gals an hour. Still does not seem to do a real clear job on pond. Been adding good bacteria and alge killing chemicals regularly I back wash it weekly, and still seems to not keep it clean. Don't know if I am killing the good bateria in filter with light? I know the light does not directly shine on the bateria media, but logic tells me that the bateria is flowing threw out the pond. Is this correct?

Does anybody else out there using this filter system? Thinkng about selling this system, and making my own using the bioballs and large barrel method found in this group that so many seem to like. Do I need to slow the water down even more?

Also been getting a lot of heavy rain the last couple of days, and the water clouds up the next day. Is this normal? My old 300 gal pond never did this.

I think you just need to extend the outlet of your pump to a TT or Skippy system and back into the pond. Crazy

You may not need to overload the pump by valve down the flow and you have to pay the bill anyway instead, channel it to a waterfall which will enhance the oxygen in the water for the good bacteria.

Best regards

Thanks for your response. All ready working on re plumbing extra pressure dirrectly to water fall. Have two more weekends in finishing waterfalls. Great idea on putting outlet from filter threw trickle system.

Will the UV light in current systme kill any good bacteria going into trickle system?

Thanks, Chuck
