Power switchable of Yamitsu AG pumps? Can't Post

Recently I bought two Yamitsu pumps for my new pond: Yamitsu AG8 and Yamitsu AG10. The label on both pumps indicate a possibility to switch power consumption (AG8: P1 299W/P2 187W and AG10: P1 360W/P2 250W). But I cannot find a switch or so on the pump itself. My local dealer cannot explain, nor can I get access to the supplier (Kockney Koi?).

My question:
- do these pumps have the possibility to switch to a lower power consumption (I assume lower speed, flow etc)?
- if not, what is the real power consumption: the P1 or the P2 value?
- how can I get in touch with the supplier (Kockney Koi)?

Thanks in advance!

Hi Wil
You may want to look up the internet and search for the brand and model of your pump. I have this feel that none of us know the pump you are using.

Humble apology.

Hello Mark,

I already looked up the internet but couldn't find any more information. The brand of the pump is really ITT Marlow/Yamitsu. But also looking at ITT's website couldn't bring me further.

I hoped that they sold these pumps also in your region.
I'll just wait and keep looking...

Wil,

I have not seen the particular pump before. Generally, when a pump is dual speed, i.e it could deliver two flow rates at two different motor speed, it would have two power rating.

Bigger power consumption is required for faster speed. To check whether your pump is dual speed, check the cable terminal of the motor to see whether there are terminals available for two separate copper windings within the motor.

Hello Frank,

I checked the cable terminal and there is no second connection. I succeeded to get into contact with the manufacturer and they explained the reason of two power consumption values. They said the first P1 value indicated the real power consumption from the net. The second P2 value indicated the efficiency of the pump, measured in watts (ie minus powerloss because of heat production etc). They explained that a lot of their competitors only give the first value. They said that that means that you can never be sure of the real power efficiency of the pump.

So my question is answered; it's just a single speed pump and there is no possibility for lowering the speed (apart from closing the ball valve behind the pump).

Thanks for your contributions and I regard this thread as closed.

Wil
