Submersible Resun Pump Can't Post

Hi

This is my first time posting and am new to this hobby. Hope this is not the wrong place to post.

I am living around Petaling Jaya/Kuala Lumpur. My Resun pump Type PG18000 (Q Max 18000 1/L) is not working. Where and how much(Preferable a deal) can I find the same pump. And where can I repair the pump?

Thanks and hope to get a reply soon.

Hi again

If you have any equivalent pumps to suggest please do. Or a shop where I can source for reasonable pumps.

Thanks again

Edwin.

Have you found out the exact problem as to why the pump doesn't work anymore?

Check the:

*Impeller and attached magnet
*Strainer cages
*Attached wiring

www.rockaroundtheblock.com.au is an Australian store that provides replacement parts such as the impeller, strainer cages and other bits. It's possible that the impeller itself needs replacement with a new impeller, otherwise if it is the wiring, an electrician could rewire a new plug.

Re: [estk] Submersible Resun Pump [In reply to] Can't Post

hello,

i also kinda using that pump. same model.

how long you been using the pump? how did the pump died??

here's something you can learn. which i taught the pump died but it didnt. and still working until now. (4mths running now)
the pump was on. everything was fine, water flow was great. then i notice a few leaves covering the pump suction strainer. so i switch it off. took the pump out of the settling chamber, removed the leaves, then i figure why not give the pump a cleaning. so i did that. blasting the pump with a strong water jet, suction inlet & discharge outlet. i didnt blast the algae covering the pump tho. then after satisfied with the cleaning, i install back the pump. then i switch on the power. (notice there is no flow) OMG, i think i damage the pump from all the blasting.. tried to cool it, i check the power maybe i blew the fuse. fuse is ok and there is no trips on the power switches. then i check the pump discharge may be i didnt connect it tightly. hose is tight and no leaks. then when i was doing this hose checking. i notice air bubbles coming from the pump. OHHH... there is air in the pump. this is call an "air lock". before a pump is to be started it has to be air-free. to remove this, i disconect the discharge coupling. and while the pump is under water, is slowly rotate the pump and also shake the pump.. so all the bubbles/air remove. then i connect the discharge coupling. switch ON the pump. and hey!!! pump works like new..

if any of the above cannot correct your problem. i suggest you bring it to where you brought it. the shop should give you a warranty or something. at my place(im in brunei). we have spare impellers for the pump. and i think your LFS should have spares too.

Good Luck.

Re: [eddie244] Submersible Resun Pump [In reply to] Can't Post

Thanks Eddie for your input.

The pump was total silence(Died). Checked the fuse. That's the only thing I know which was ok My pond is indoor hence most of the time it's clean.(No debris/leaves) So jamming from leaves are out. Air...hmm not to sure. But considering that I have used the pump for more than 16 months likely it has got kaput.

But then it's always good to know a place to repair and etc since we should try reusing equipments(Being Green). And Maybe cheaper if it's a small problem. Unfortunately I know nuts about pumps.

By the way, do u thing this pump uses lots of electricity? I believe this pump does since it's running on a 250W. Do u have the formula to count the usage of electricity? Just asking if you are aware. Planning to rework my pump systems to reduce unnecessary usage of electricity. Heard that rule of thumb is 2.5 times of your water capacity for an hour. Though the pump is reasonable since it's made in China, the long term usage of electricity may not be feasible. In addition, trying to more environment friendly.

Thanks for your insides again

Edwin

16 mths, thats a long usage. but, i have a running eheim filter still running since 1992. it died once after 2 years of usage but only change the impeller, and its running till now. so i think changing the impeller would start the pump BUT since this resun pump is so so cheap. why not buy another new one.

about the electricity, im not sure. i dont see any major increase in my electrical bill. but check this out.. http://www.usakoi.com/calc3.php
