I have at least 4 friends using the takara pump, 6k gph, low power consumption (160 watts I think), expensive. it has no head so you can't use it for a waterfall.
they locate it in between the brush and bio chamber so they can divert part of the water back into the pond. This is done in order to get the right flow rate into the bio chamber.
the uv they use is the home made submersible one.
