a new pond and owner Can't Post

hi there, this isnt my first post but i thought id have a read before posting this. i have recently built a pond with my dad in the back garden, of which i will post picstures soon, i was just wondering if it seemed all good?

its around 13-14feet long, 4-5 feet wide and 3-4 feet deep, poss a bit more. it is built approx 2 feet above ground level with railway sleepers and then ladder style fencing. we constructed a concrete rhyl, if tht is how its spelt and had a filter from a friend because of the ponds size, i cannot give you any details on how it works inside, im sorry!!

we have a 9000litre pump, of which after being filtered we have three outlets, 1 pipe feed in the middle on the far side, one at the bottom end on the far side and a steady flow from the rhyl.

im unsure as to why but we have 4 air balls constantly pumping air into the pond, recommended by the friend.

and no bottom drain

the pond is not heated and has been at around 2degrees all winter, we have 2 shubunkin and 2 goldfish from the old pond which we replaced at the top of the garden, and 4 other goldfish from a friend down the street which seem to have transferred pretty well and are active :)

i have a few questions,

1. what other fish can i add after koi? bearin in mind the 8 we already have. my dad wants 3-5 koi at max, but i want a few blue orfe and poss a tench or two.

2. i kno we've prob f***** up with no bottom drain but is it a necessity?

3. do i need to kno what is in the filter box?

4. my dad is still feeding the goldfish and i'm tellin him not to, am i right?

5. is the flow from the pipes and rhyl ok in winter? i've read about removing this but still pumpin the water.

6. what is the reason for the airballs?

sorry its such a long post with many questions, but some help would be greatly appreciated, it doesn't seem as easy as the first little pond we ever had!!

i'll post pics asap aswell so you can have a look.

many thanks
