bottom drain but filter not gravity fed?? Can't Post

hi

is there any way to incorporate a bottom drain to an above the ground filtration set up ?i am struggling for space to build a gravity filled filter but do have room on decking near the pond for above the ground filtration ,i just cant figure out how i would get the water to it or where a pump would fit in .

regards

Mark

I am using an inverted bottom drain connecting my pond to a barrel filter sitting next to my pond. The water is the same between the pond and the filter, hence I don't need a pump. You can put a submersible pump that handle large waste if your filter is on higher ground.

i think i get it , so i would have to add a pump which would have to sit under the water line ,even outside the pond as long as it was below the level of the water .if i bought one of those ampibious pumps i could just turn it around so that the flow was going back down the bottom drain to flush it as well .there must be a way to do the plumbing using ball valves or something so i wouldnt have to turn the pump around to back flush it ?? i need to do a bit more research on that i think .

thanks

Mark
