the water level of both the pond and the filter has to be the same. as the pump pump the water out of the filter... water from the pond will be automatically suck into the filter due to the pressure.

ok..i see.. but, must the filter have same height as the pond.. ???
see the diagram attached..

which one? the first on or 2nd one?

if i choose the 2nd one, will the water from the bottom drain flow to the filter because the filter is set higher..???
can the pressure push the water into the filter?

please.. i really dont know.. Unsure

owhhh..ok.. now i understand.. thanks a lot..Wink

so, it doesn't matter if i place the filter higher. most important is the water level must be the same, right?

i think i like to used pump rather than gravity concept.. which one u think teh best solution..??

well... of course i would prefer if the filter is deeper as its easier for the debris to be sucked into the filter and wont trapped in the "L" pipe going up to the filter.

here s the pic.

if the filter s bottom is higher than the pond's then the debris might have problem being suck up due to the gravity.

so the below IMHO is the better one.
