need some feedback on a good filter/pump for a 1000 to 1500 gal pond.....I am currently using a ultima 2 1000 bead filter with a 3000 GPH pump.....I am not pleased with this system.....would like some alternates....on a none bead filter system.....any help would be greatly appreciated....any plans for making my own filter available.....

Could you please share with us what you dislike of your current Ultima filter?

first of all its the water flow...I've mentioned this before.....it seems like I am only getting about 900 GPH out of a 3000 GPH pump....the flow length from the pond is approx a 4 ft height thru a 17 foot runway of pipe thats 1 1/2 dia...the bead filter seems to restrict the flow since I get almost double the water flow when it by passes the filter....was wondering if a filter that is not bead.....the open ones with the various pads...etc...would be better since there is no beads....I know I would have to clean the pads (dont know the proper name) since they would block the waste but dont mind that if I get a better flow rate.....I have had several people come over and said the filter and pump are ok but when I see other ponds and see the flow and clarity I get really frustrated....maybe its me but I dont think so....my pond size is approx 1100 to 1400 gal.... thanks for your time and response.....

Assuming your pump is according to spec (ie it is really generating 3000GPH), then the fault should be in your piping (ie incorrect size). As you mentioned that you are only getting double of the 900GPH with bypassing your bead filter, which is only 1800GPH. This is way too far off from your pump specs. I suggest checking for the correct piping specs (ie the correct diameter size).
