i am not going to dig a hole so i am planning to build one with liner and wood...

ok lets pretend i have no pump right now and i have the bottom drain connected to my filter tank...

would my filter tank get overflow? and does it have to be the same height as my pond ?? i want to make it so the water evens out...

if it will overflow..how big of a percentage of the filter tank have to be so it doesnt get overflow...

Physics 101, Water will always find it's same level.

The water from your pond will fill your filter tank until it becomes the same level.
