help with "balancing" drum filters Can't Post

hey guys ,
i have a series of drum filters and they've been working fine for 2 years now .. i was just wondering if theres a specific design to help water flow through from one drum to the next .. like for example my first one is almost to the top (all the way) .. and as i pass each drum, theres less and less water .. so by the time im by the 4th drum, its about 6 - 8" shorter in water than the first one .. you can see here that the water in each drum is pretty much consistent .. any ideas ?? thanks ahead of times ..

Cheers

Re: [Toan] help with "balancing" drum filters [In reply to] Can't Post

hi

i am having the same problem ,iv just built a four chamber filter and the way i got round it was to add extra pipe work nearer the end ,another way i think you can do it i think is by raising the drums in sequence ,say the first drum 4 inch of the ground ,second drum 3 inches of the ground ,3rd drum 2 inches of the ground ,last drum 1 inch from the ground ,that extra head water at the begging should create more force to allow the water to move more freely in the beginning . saying that you would have to alter all the pipe work which would be a big job in its self ,if it wasn't to bad i would just leave it as it is ,but if first chambers are nearly over flowing you could always just reduce the flow a little , i only added 2 x 1 inch pipes on my last 2 chambers and that was enough to let the water move more freely and now my levels are fine .

hope that helped some what

regards

Mark
