i recently have a 3 thousand or so gallons pond and i don't have a bottom drain. i heard there is this thing call a vacuum to clean up the debris that settles on the bottom of the pond. is there an alternate solution to this problem beside installing a bottom drain? if not. where can i purchase a pond vacuum? In live in U.S.A in the state of Maryland. can you tell me a place i can go to or a place on the internet where i can order one? thank you. any comments is appreciated.

Just buy a swimming pool pump such as centrifugal pump and connect long flexible host to both ends. One for sucking and the other end for discharge.

If the flexible host size required is says 2" for the connection to the pump, reduce the sucking ends with some PVC pipe accessories to 1" for better sucking effect.

The following pic show how a centrifugal pump look like
