We have calculated that our pond would be about 8000 gal - I will be using 2 pumps - 1 going to waterfall and 1 going to 2 venturi. What size of pumps do I need?

Hi, ideally it would be good to circulate the whole volume of water thru filter once every 1 to 2 hours. The pump supplying the 2 venturi via UV unit, should be 4000gph and the pump supplying the waterfall should also be 4000gph. Smile

hi
my pump's capacity is 3,600 litres per hour and my tank's volume is about 300 or 800 litres gallons. Should I get a slower flow rate?

Thanks
Dennis

Hi, you have a 800L tank and using a 3,600Lph pump. This would mean the water circulates abt 4 times thru the filter every hour. If your filter is large enough or if you have more than one filter and the water is clear and the parameters are good, why not? The important considerations here is whether at this speed, the filter is able to perform it's function. Make sure that there is no restriction of water flow in media as this may lead to overflowing of water from filter box if this is situated on top of tank. Is the water current excessive? These are some important considerations. One way to reduce water flow into one filter is by diverting some water to another filter. This is just my view. Any others are welcome. Smile

Wah, Dennis, terror pump you have! If too powerful for comfort, why not divert some of the energy to a nice mini fountain? Just a humble suggestion. Wink

hi Joshua and dttk
The outlet where the water flows out has a powerful stream of water. It acts like an oxygenator with strong streams of bubbles. My water parameters are fine. I guesss I will live with this "terror" pump :-)

regards
Dennis
