Biological Filter Works Well Can't Post

Just would like to share with you guys how my biological filter looks like. Not much maintenance is needed except flushing out the dirt once every 6-month. Cheers.

Hi Ed,

Once every 6 months? Crazy I clean out my settlement chamber once a week and it has already accumulated a shitload of "dirt" by then Laugh. Is your filter relatively big compared to the size of your pond?

Dennis

Hi Ed,

will you be able to attach larger files of your filters. Looks very nicely drawn and would like to take closer look. You mentioned about biological filter. How about your mechanical filtration. How often do you need to flush/clean those?

Cheers..

Ok, here's the largest pic I could attach. Can't go any larger. Nothing extraordinary about the filter system. Most of the idea I got it from this website and made it into a construction drawing. Just to make sure I got the best bid from the contractor.

The size of my filter is about 3.3m x .8m x 1.0m (H). I do flush out the waste once a month. Full cleaning is only required once every 6-mth. Bacteria does most of the cleaning work. :-)

Hi Edchevv,

Thanx for the info. That kind of cleaning/flushing regime will not work for me. Too much waste. Thanx again for the construction drawing.

cheers..

Having such system, one can expect a crystal clear water all the time. Flushing is so much easy, just a twist of the knob, the waste/settelement will be drained out. Not much waste accumulated though.

Hi Edward,

How much and how often do you feed your kois each day? I think this could be the reason for the minimal waste.

Rgds,
Dennis
