It seem to be that this filter only work mechanically. Hence a bio filter is still required to complete your filter system. Yes, it should replace brushes well.

I had order the Estrosieve Filter in Feb. . after installation and operate for a week.
the amount of suspended solid partical reduced. it work better after I change 50% of my pond water.
the system works - it remove suspended solid partical effectively.
but you need to remove the stainless steel filter to clean it every day,(may be my pond is very dirty) This may be a problem when you are away for same time.
Second the system need another pump to operate, monthly cost increased. I had spend on the filter is about Rm 2800 + Rm 400 for a small pump.
Overall I feel the system is good.

Originally my pond size is 10'x18'x4' deep about 13 tons of water. filter system is normal biological filter. The Filter element I use only japanese matting. The problem start when I increase my pond depth to 8', to about 18 tons of water. this move cause my filter capcity insufficient, I am interested in this estrosieve filter due to its size and function. (I have limited space)
Please advise. Thank you.

Estrosieve works very well if the particles or solids you intend to filter is hard, e.g. sand and other hard particles.

Water is pump into the filter and allow to flow through narrow slits. Particulate larger than the slits are trap in the filter.

The same priciple is frequently use in industrial filter, usually as pre-filter.

It would not be very effective in filtering pond water. The fish waste are soft and slimmy, it will clog the fine slits in no time unless you clear it frequently.

For the same budget, it would be more effective to invest in trickle tower. Install it after your existing fibre matt filter chamber.

I just construct and run one trickle tower
, by using chemical container (DIY). it contain about 1200 bio ball. I hope it work for my pond.

If you use brand new bio balls, it takes a little longer for the tower to function. Until the residue chemical in the plastic balls are completely breached the bacteria would not multiply. You should see the results in 4 to 6 weeks.

I am also considering adding another filter to supplement my exisiting bio filter. I already have a trikle tower added to my bio filter, but the water clarity is still not to my satisfaction. The water quality is actually quite good - ammonia, nitrite, nitrate etc. and the fish are all healthy. Just that I would like the water to be gin clear - it gets very clear when I stop feeding for 2-3 days.
I am considering adding a sand filter that is normally used for commercial purposes as in factories and swimming pools. I have talaked to a supplier and he says he had done this for Koi ponds before and he gaurantees that it will clear up the water significantly.
Anyone have used this kind of filter before or have any better ideas how I can remove the sediments mostly fish waste.

I had a sand filter for that purpose. my experience is that you need to backwash and clean the sand very often. I have convert the sand filter for incoming water "active carbon filter", reason is I need to service the sand filter very often (I am very lazy), and I need to used a higher pressure water pump to pump the water through the filter,this cause me a lot on electricity bill.

I have the same experience before as tntan on the use of sand filter. The pond water is crystal clear when sand filter is used. To push the water through the same filter, I used a centrifugal pump 3/4 HP and yet still need to be backwashed everyday. Draining a lot of water everyday and of course pay a big sum to the Electrical Board every month. I have discontinued its use barely three month after installing it.

please know that the estrosieve is not a filter!!!!!!!!

it is only the newest thing and even better than any vortex, settlementchamber, brushes or a sandfilter.

it comes with a 200 my stainless steel sieve that is a 200 of a mm.

it can also stocked with a 30 my sieve - that is possible to parasits and their eggs.

the waste and algae that the sieve holds out of the water is than always dry - without any futher contact with the water.

what else can a koi-keeper wish

in the nederlands (dutch) this system is very much in use. i have seen some systems with this and i have one on my own system.

it works. really better than any vortex with a minimum of maintence.
