How many koi do you have? How big are they? what are your water conditons? Clear does not count.
Are your fish sick?

These things will tell us if you need salt at all.

If you were to use salt use aquarium salt for certain. I would recommend the addition be slowly. 1/3rd of the total salt volume needed per day. One treatment is all you need unless you remove water. Then only treat the aquarium for the water you have replaced and not the whole volume of the aquarium.

Well i have 7 koi biggest one is only 5inch, I only added 4TBS of the salt last night. Does the salt go away after time? Or is it in the water? if i want to take out all the salt do i just do water changes? The salt i got was just in a bag no really info on how to use it just how to add it to your tank.

Dear Bizzaro,
If ur pond is 60 US gallon, then is 227.12L. To increase 0.1% of salt u need 1 g of salt per 1 L.. so u need 227g for every 0.1% salt in ur pond.. u need 0.3 to 0.6% for treatment.. so I recommand 1 kg of salt in 3 devided dose over 3 days.. that will give u about 0.45% intotal..After 1 week change water 10% every week.. then u will be alright.

Salt will not remove its self from your system. Water changes will do that. When water evaporates the salt stays so topping off does not remove it either.

Bingo on the dosage.

leave your tank as it is if you still don't know whats wrong with your koi.
7 koi in 60 gallons? they might be dying bec theyre overstacked. don't feed them everyday. im fact feed them once in 2 days and make a water change an hour after they eat.
the volume of water cannot accomodate the koi. besides, they won't grow to be big even if you feed them diligenmtly bec of lack of space.
