Algae HELP And More HELP on other things as well Can't Post

I am having a problem with algae growing on the sides and on the lights and on the rocks at the bottom of the pond. Now i have a UV light that seemed to help a little but i am still having a problem. How can i fix it to were i don't have so much. I know that some is good but this s too much it makes the pond green. the water itself is clear. But it all over the side and stuff....

Also I am getting these bubbles at the top of the water by the waterfall they look like a soapy sud....

Also what is the gestation period for the KOI?

HOw do i tell if a fish is pregnant or not?

And if there is a pregnant fish do i take her out to a different pond? What do i need to do. I have a 2ed pond with nothing in it right now. and who do i separate?

Hi, algae on sides of pond and rocks is a good thing as long as the water is clear Smile. It will serve as food for koi. Makes your pond looks natural too. If you really want to reduce it, just shade the pond. Foam on the surface of pond means too much protein and other dissolved organic compounds in water. Changing some water daily (abt 10%) and reducing feeding should clear up the water. Smile
Always friendly :)

CJ,
I very much agree with DTTK I have the same problem like yours last month, and i did a water change evry other day 10% to 15% and dechlorinate the water.
regarding the koi, watch your koi closely if they spawned in your main pond, its not good because koi milt will contaminate your pond water.look for the koi that is bloated and put her on a separate pond if you want them to spawn.to do koi spawning net the female gently put her in a big heavy duty plastic bag and transfer her in spawning pond, let her float in the pond for 15-20 minutes before releasing her.do the same thing with the male after an hour or two and put spawning material in the pond, like spawning rope or brand new mop head or any soft stringy material.the very next day you will see males chasing your female koi.(two male koi)

rgds and happy spawningWink

a janitor fish (plecostomus) will clean all that algae on the sides and walls. just get a small one, because one day, it WILL run out of algae to eat.

algae on the walls are actually good, they compete with the floating algae for food. but since you have uv, just get the plecostomus.

my 2" plecostomus cleaned my 180 gallon pond in about a week.

you should never get two plecostomus for any tank or pond unless you have an outrageously big pond. 1 will almost always do.
