Bakki Shower Can't Post
This has been posted on other forums but regretably not getting much help sofar. Hope the gurus here can help. Thanks.

"Hi, can someone please advise if this Bakki Shower is supplemental to the conventional filter system or can we just do with a big BS on its own, without the conventional system. I would like to maximise pond space for a new pond and am thinking of using one directly onto the pond. Is a slow flowrate better or must it be gushing with a big big pump? What flowrate in lit/hr is best? Also, what alternatives are there for the filter media for this BS instead of Bacteria House? Momotaro uses the Bakkis directly on some of his ponds??"

Would appreciate also to know costs of Bacteria House and how to calculate how much quantity is needed to produce an efficient system.

Hi koi-kaki,

Just to give some info about BS(Bakki shower)Smile.

From what I've read you'll need a water turn over rate of at least 3x per hour with daily(?) 10% water change. You can pump your water directly to BS from your BD(bottom drain). But I recommend from settlement stillWink Not sure how much would you need but I know someone who has 20ton pond using 300kg of BH(bacteria house) in his BSCool But like we all say "the bigger the filter the better"Smile The cost of BH/BS is depends on where you live but they are a little expensive. Here in OZ they are about $290 per 10kg.
