Clean or not to Clean? Can't Post

Hi,
I love this site, I have been reading and reading learning so much. Thank you for all this information.
I have a question. When I first started my pond I had the problem with algea bloom, and after time and treatment my pond is constantly crystal clear and balanced. One thing learned with the bloom is that the good algea has to catch up when the water got warmer and took over the bad algea. Now when I clean the filter I have alot of algea in the pads, should I clean this or leave it? I have been cleaning it and the pond stays balanced and the algae is there in the next cleaning. But should I not wash the bio-balls? I have a small pond 120 gallons with box filter with mesh and carbon filter. Plenty of aeration and some plants. Fish seem happy and no problems. Probably too many fish so I clean the filter about every 3-4 days, partial water change every week. Thanks .
Steve
