Conditioning/treating new pond water Can't Post

Hello,
I am very curious about koi ponds and was wondering what is involved in getting new water ready for the fish.

I know that you have to dechlorinate the water. But do I have to check the pH; what pH should it be at? Do I have to put some chemicals in to boost algae growth?

Basically, what are the steps in preparing tap(hose) water for koi ponds?
Thanks,
Nathan

Ph should around 7 to 8.5 max.

No need. Let the water cycle for a day or two, some ppl cycle their pond for a week. Then get yourself some cheapy fish to test the water for a few days. Give them few pellets per day coz you need their waste to kick off(start) your biofilter. If they survive after a few days, check you water for PH, Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. All readings should be within acceptable level.

rgds,
Jon

Yes as koi38 says just let it age a little.

Add your fish slowley like 2 at a time so as not to overload your filters. Don't try and go for istant capacity like adding 20 fish you will just end up with 16 dead fish and 4 very poorley fish.

Slowley slowley catchee monkey or summit ??? not sure what that meens but i think it meens don't rush it and you wont regret it.
