Hello! I'm a newbie and have a very small pond compared to the majority of the ones I've seen on here. I got it at Lowe's and it was a performed one that had a small (cheap) mechanical filter and tubing already. I realize I desperately need a biological filter now that I have one for my aquarium in the house. My question is what can I do to clear the water up? I but a small flake of barley straw into the top section and it cleared up alot for about a week. I don't think the fish are suffering, I just can't see them. The water is mirky enough that a frog has taken up residence and was hanging out on the lily pads. I want to introduce plants into the top section to act as a natural biological filter, or atleast help. I was gonna get this: 2 water hyacinth 3 water lettuce 5 oxgenators for underwater Do I need more or will this work? Here's the link to the pond I bought:Lowes I'm not sure what the name is of the fish I have. I know I put 5 in, but I've never seen that first fish again (it was a shubunkin from Petco). I know that I have two koi, probably about 5-6 inches each and two comets (or whatever the average walmart goldfish is; owner won them in a game and didn't want them.) One of the koi is white and yellow (butterfly I believe) and it's name is Twice (jumped away from us twice while trying to buy it!) and the other is orange and white with shimmery scales, it doesn't have a name yet. The comets don't have names either but they seem to be growing well. The koi seem to be about the same size as always. MAYBE a half inch bigger (i'm not sure how quickly they grow). Oh yeah, the pond is above ground and packed in by dirt, sand, and rocks. I'll get pictures soon. Any advice is appreciated!
