Help me fine tune my filter system

My pond was built a few years back and when it was put in the people did not research it very well and it has many flaws in the design. It is about 1500 gallons. It has a shallow half and a deep half, the shallow part is about one foot deep and the deeper part goes to 2.5 feet. The pump is in the deeper part and pumps water to a filter then to a waterfall which also falls into the deeper part. So the shallow part has a lot of dead water i think. I have gone through many different filtration setups but i can not seem to be able to keep the green water away. The fish are always happy, but the water is never crystal clear. the pump is a pondmaster 1800GPH Right now i have a hozelock pressure filter it is rated for 2000 gallons and has a 13w UV, this doesnt really keep the pond clear at all but least the filter is out of site. I had a 55gallon barrel filter and a 36watt UV and that setup worked a little bit better i think, but still green, and the barrel started to leak. Right now it seems like even if the UV kills the algae it doesnt get picked up and removed from the pond at all, so it all still just collects on the pond bottom and floats to the pond surface. Can you guys suggest some economic solutions to my pond problem, i am sick of this green water. What do you think i should do? I can post pictures if you need them.
