Japan Filter system for tap water Can't Post

Hi Guys,

Recently, there are a new product (made in Japan) sold in Singapore and Malaysia that can filter your tap water from impurities e.g. chlorine, rust etc and it uses a filter system combine with an electrical ion to seperate the water into 2 portion, acidic and alkaline.

The alkaline water is for human consumption and the level of the alkalinity can be adjusted from Ph 8 to 10. The acidic water, Ph 6, is channel to a pail and can be used to wash the floor and clothes.

Has anyone tried using the alkaline water for your kois? (or the acidic water )

The water claim by the vendor is much better than the chemicals we added in the water to change Ph, remove chlorine, etc. It claim to be able to improve blood circulation and help to reduce common aliment in humans and will definitely beneift your pet.
Don't know if this is true ???

Cost of the Japan filter is S$1000 and the filter catridge which is $90 need to be changed every year.

Japan Filter system for tap water [In reply to] Can't Post

jsoon--

This product sounds suspiciously like an R.O.(Reverse Osmosis)which uses a very fine membrane to strain out most impurities, coupled with a D.I.(Direct Ion) Unit which uses resins to further purify the water. These untis are available here in the US for less than $300.

One drawback of the R.O. part of the unit is, that it wastes 5 Gallons of water to every Gallon of filtered water it produces, hence you will have a lot of floor and clothes to wash. Replacing the membrane that does the actual filtering is also needed. It could be as little as 4 months to a year, depending on how many impurities and minerals your water contains. They cost about $ 90 US.

The D.I. part uses expensive replacement resins, usually in a cartridge, which costs about 70 U.S Dollars and usually filters about 1200 Gallons before it must be replaced.

We use it for adding evaporated water to our Saltwater Reef Tanks, but for a pond, I fear the cost would be prohibitive.
