Not sure about Malaysia end, in Singapore weather seems hot and more algae are growing in ponds. Filter systems also seems to be not working well... any members from Singapore end facing the same problem?
Tips:
Shadding the pond with a canvass sheet or anything that prevents the sunlight from hitting the pond directly plus a daily 10~20% water changes will help clear up the mass.

More algae growing due to hotter weather [In reply to] Can't Post

Hi Mark,

As you know from postings here and in SGP, I've been fiddling with my front pond but despite the weather my green water is clearing up. What I've done is to have temp covers made which shade about 90 percent of the pond.

As for the little back pond, just cleaned the bio filter yesterday. Did not get any algae problems and in fact water remains very clear but there were some tiny bubbles accumulating at the overflow pipe. Last time I cleaned the bio filter was 3.5 months.

Cheers!

I live in Tampines HDB and my tank had the morning sun. Agree with you that water is greener later despite dropping my windows blind. The water is alittle green otherwise water clear and parameter is good.

I bought a 200gallon tank from someone who gave it the hobby 3 weeks ago. The deal comes with a 28' brown cute koi. I call it Coco. The water is always so dirty so much so that I hardly could see the koi. I wasted alot of water everyday changing half the tank. After changing I can always see the koi but when evening comes, the water is unclear again. Now my Coco is sick and I hope someone can help me.
Thank you.

Hi Siew Meng,

Welcome to the koi forum.

Is the 200 gallon tank come with a proper filtration system ? From your description, it seem to me that your system lack a proper filter and hence the water quality is poor. You really need to cut down the feeding to your koi until situation improve.

Please describe to us your existing filter system so that forum members can help you.
