Nitrates Can't Post

On the recommendation of a response I got from another forum, I have taken out my plants from the pond, as the koi were eating all the lilies, and they looked awful, now my concern is how do I take care of the nitrates if I don't have any plants.

You will have to depend on the efficiency of your filter unforutnately. But even plants, given the size of some of the pond and population of the fishes, would not be enough to do the job. Refer to section on pond construction and filter equipment and read the string on TT - Trickle Tower of Trickle Filter, basically a wet-dry filter.... and of course, the bakki shower to remove nitrates. Some DIY TT ideas available under the DIY section also.

maybe you can construct a small pond and fill it with your plant. This small pond act as a vegi filter.
Water from main pond go to your mechanical filter and after that vegi filter and down to main pond.
This is my next project....
