Oyster Shells, where to get em? Can't Post

Now it is common knowledge that oyster shells help balance a pond's pH level. I am interested in locating a place in which a nice bundle of these shells can be gathered for use in my filter system. Any ideas where one might find such a thing? The closet I have come is a 10oz container for birds (aids birds with bone development). The container sells for under five USD and are readily available. Unfortunately they are crushed. Would these prepackaged crushed oyster shells still do the trick? If you know of a better way to gather oyster shells in the USA please let me know!
Thanks,
John

Hello, you may try putting on a very nice face, and go to a sea food restuarant, they usualy have alot of oyster shells to throw away! Ask them if they can toss them aside for you, you will have to cook the shells to clean them, but this is one way! And they may just give these to you!
