Pond Vac Can't Post

Hi

Can anyone recommend a pond vac that is efficient? Or are these a waste of money?

Thx

Also, for those of you that have bottom drains, do you ever need to clean the bottom of your ponds?

Thx

Gouri,

There are 2 types of BD, one with air diffuser and one without. Mine has air diffuser and NO I don't clean the bottom of my pond coz it's always cleanCool Due to the mushroom effect from BD diffuser it helps to sweep/push the waste to the BD. You can still have a normal BD but you need to add a few TPR's to assist the water flow towards the BD to clean the floorSmile

Jon

Jealous?!! Me??!!! Smile

I might need one if she knew of my plans for a new pond Shocked.....but that's way in the future, and I guess I'd have to be married too!! Wink

Thx for the info, I'm sure I'll ask you to explain what on earth Tangential Pond Return means, when I decide whether to spend money on a bottom drain with BD; bottom drain with TPR; or legal fees. Laugh

ThxCool

Gouri,

I'll go for BD with air diffuser if I were youWink The tpr's are placed to help to push the water towards the drain. From my understanding and seen you only add this if your pond is too wide and long coz of the mushroom effect you'll get from the BD diffuser may not be strong enough to complete the currentSmile Have a look at the pic belowTongue

Jon

Thx for the info! Smile When you were talking about a mushroom earlier I thought you meant the shape of the bottom drain!Sly But suddenly everything is clear!

Although, when I've seen an air diffuser let off air it doesn't seem to spread like this. Can you see the bubbles spread across the pond when yours lets some go, as illustrated?

Thx

Gouri,

It's not actually the bubbles that spread across the surface but water generated by the bubblesWink.

If you look some ponds with BD diffuser you'll noticed the ripples(from where the bubbles are coming out) from the middle to sides and thats water current as explained in pic aboveSmile

Jon
