Pond is cloudy - at wits end Can't Post

I have a 75 gal tank inside with 2 Koi about 6" - 8", a large Shubunkin goldfish about 8"-9" and a small koi about 3". I started my tank in September and can't seem to keep it clear. I live in Missouri in the country. I have a external 110 biofilter system that hangs on the top with the foam, carbon (mix) for ammonia, and the bag of rocks on top (like lava rocks). I try to change 25% to 30% of the water every other week and clean out the foam filter at that time, sometimes more often. I use well water that has no chlorine in it and is add water around the same temperature 74 - 76 deg. Due to the size of the tank and the amount of water needed, I can't let my water set for a few days. I change the carbon around 4 to 6 wks and I just changed the rocks 2 wks ago. (I was told to every three months). I don't change more than one item at a time. My tank stays cloudy all the time and gets black algae on the sides and fake plants. I used to have another 9" Koi in there, but took it out about a month ago. My tank currently is white cloudy whereas before it was green. It is very frustrating having this huge tank and never being able to see my fish clearly. What do I need to do or not do?

change and improve yr filteration unit. It's likely that ithe current one is under rated.
since your kois are not too many and not too big in size in relation to the tank, yet the water is cloudy, it indicates the filteration is under capacity.

Hi Danas,
My tank is much smaller than yours.
It's only 21 gal including the internal filter.
What I did was installed a canister pre-filter before the bio-filter.
The bio-filter consists of Japanese mat, Oyster shells and lava rocks.
As you can see from the picture, I keep 12 small kois (10cm to 15cm) inside the tank and the water is still very clear.
I would suggest that you get one of those canister filter which is use to filter tap water to act as pre-filter.

Cheers!
