Product Warning.. USA.. Lowes DIY Retail Product Can't Post

Last Sunday, I purchased a Water Lily from Lowes,(Nenufar by name). The lily was planted in a very fine clay( off white in color) material. I trans-planted the lily in a pot with black dirt ...Dug out a hole in the pot and after removing the lily from the container, placed it into the hole and returned some of the orginal dirt around the lily. I did not remove all the clay from the container, just an amount adquate such that I would not disturbe the roots... In the pond, a small clay cloud of material resulted from the planting... I assumed that the filter (K1 and bird netting in an old, modified replaceable filter swimming pool filter) ... After approximately, 3 or 4 hours the fine clay particles was all over the pond!!! I assumed that the filter would pull out the clay by the next day!!!! The next day, the koi are a bit 'surface oriented' ...but not an obvious breathing problem!!! I removed 200 gals ( pond is 2000 gals) which helped ... The next day I initiated water replacement ... as the water was still very cloudy... POINT.... The fine clay particles could not be removed by the K1/Bird Netting filter material... much too fine!!!!
I advised the store manager of the situation ...he is to retrun my call(not expected!!!). PLEASE BE AWARE OF THE FINE CLAY PARTICLES THAT THESE LILIES ARE 'PACKED' IN!!!!!!!!!!

Well, it pays to read the ''back'' of the advertising pic on the item!!!!... Back ( why the back??), advises to plant the lily in, "CLAY"... But still don't know why this is true for lilies other than to hold them in the pond....
HOWEVER, this still doesn't change the situtation as to the fineness of the clay... the problem still was present... after the water exchange, the pond has cleared...

while it didn't seem to be as bad of an issue for me, I had the same thing occur with a pickerel I got at Lowe's. These are mass produced/shipped plants that are coming from a distributor, and you simply can't expect the same quality and care that you would find if you were buying them from a koi dealer or garden pond store. GL w/future plantings and I'm sure you'll hear back from the Lowe's manager soon (assuming everyone's sarcasm meter is working)
