Hi Marshall, have you check your water parameters? How about your filter? Your UV light, it may need replacing the tube coz they only work properly within 12months.Smile

Do partial water change say 10 % to 20%.

Good luckSmile

How long ago was that? Can you tell us what kind of filter are using? Remember to use pond water to clean your filter.Smile Also the filter will take a while to mature. You just have to be patienceWink

UV light tubes doesn't last forever, from my understanding they only good for 12months, longer than that is waste of electricity.

What kind of pond is it? Fiberglass, concrete or liner?

BTW, what kind of food are you feeding your fish. Some food can cause cloudy water, try to use different food if you can.Smile

Jon

Hi

two things you might want to look into:

1. water flow rate. maybe your water turn over rate is too high that it won't let all the sediments to fully settle in the filter's mechanical filtration.
2. mechanical filtration. you can improve this department so that all sediments can be trapped efficiently.

Good luckSly

OH and i dont use pond water to clean it i will start though. how do i make sure the filter works rite? thanks for both of your advice!

ey, how long have you had the uvc filter for. if its more than 12 monthx, your uv light is out. Burnt out. so it needs reaplacing.

You can replace the bulb if you want or you could wait another month. Your koi food is okay. You can use your existing filter and but I would add two more filters at least, one is for settlement chamber and the other is prefilter full of brushes then your bioforce. Kelabukoi have mentioned that your turn over rate could be too high, he could be right. If so, try to divert some water by making trickle tower or waterfalls. This will provide more oxygen to your pond. Smile

Do you have any pix???

Jon

i have a diverter made of pvc pipe that me and my dad made. it has 3 outflows into the pond, one to the filter, one to the waterfall, then one just to the pond plain.i also have one to drain the pond, it is a water hose. i am about to upgrade my pond to i think 500 to 700 gallons. it is 220 now. do you have any recremendations for the 2 other filters i need them cheap. also recremendations on the new pond? sorry to ask so much. i really appreciate your help!
Thanks Marshall

Hi Marshall, you can use something like storage bins. You can get them either at Lowes or Home depotor plastic recyclers.
Similar to this link http://www.reflexequip.com.au/detail.aspx?Key=10050. Or you can use those big blue drumsSmile

I never use pressure filter before so I can't make a comment on themUnsure. I found that DIY works better, IMHOWink The one I showed you before (Storage bin or blue drum) can be use as your filters. The first one is settlement chamber (no media) second one you can put brushes, the third one will be your biofilter and you can use either bio balls or Japanesse Matt.Smile Just add some air stones in biofilter coz they do need lots of airSmile

Marshall, You should be able to get these brushes and jap matt from wherever you got your other filter from. There might be a Koi Club in your area, aks around. Browse this link. All your questions will be answer.
