I'm re-vamping my pond after having some water issues and algae issues this spring. Next weekend I'm going to be installing a pressure filter for a 700 gallon pond and a 900 gph (will be cut down to about 550 after including head) - going into my 300 gallon pond. While doing this I'm going to be completely removing plants, fish, etc. and doing a 100% water change. I'm scared that I've waited a little too late into the year to do this with ease. While I'm waiting to get my bio-filter started I'm going to have to cut back on feeding, but we're getting ready to start June and I'm in Virginia! My questions: 1) Should I consider using more than the initial dose of bacteria to get my bio-filter started? Can there be too much of an aerobic bacteria dumped into a "brand new" pond? 2) I know that I'll have to cut back, but can anyone recommend a food that I can use the first few weeks to limit Ammonia nitrogen build-up? _________________________________________________ Chris 1 sanke, 1 shusui, 1 hariwake, 1 kujaku, 3 shubunkins, and a 5 year old pond comet
