high ammonia low ph Can't Post

We have a 1200 gallon pond with 4 koi that are 5 and 6 years old; living in Hillsboro, Oregon. Since we changed the filter to an Ultima II in July (what a waste of money), the pond has not ever been in balance, with ammonias running high and PH creeping low. Even in the winter with water temperatures low and no feeding, the ammonia within a few days of water changes or Amquel, starts to climb. We tried seeding the filter with Microbe Lift and later, when that apparently did not work, some kind of dry bacteria. Nothing seems to work. They are getting very stressed and it is affecting their skin. I do not know what to do. Any ideas would be appreciated! Thanks

Perhaps u r thinking too deep ahead.Lets come back to the basic.Wat i suggest is pretty simple thus effective.
It all comes back to yur filters and perhaps the answer u r seeking lies in front of u all along.Look into a simple 4 stage filtration system chamber.
1st stage - waste settlement chamber where its left empty or lay with mats with larger holes.
2nd stage - japanese type mats with fine holes.(usually in black color)
3rd stage - a net of bio rings(the more the better)laid at the most bottom follow by a net of bio ball and follow by a net of corals at the most top.
4th stage - a powerful enough pump to suck in waste.

Also try adding in a dry trickle tower and make sure it has enough bio rings for the slow dropping of water dip through the bio rings before going back into yur pond.

I am sure these basics will solve yur problems.
