koi color fading Can't Post

hi all,
i am sure some of us here encounter color fading on our koi esp the hi on the kohakus. wat factors do you think caused this? With water parameters, ammonia, NO2, NO3 at reading of zeros, i really cant figure it out. I have a 13 tons pond, sunlight of 1 hour on 10% length of the pond (could this have caused it???). Feeding hikari spirulina, high growth and wheatgerms. Btw, i bought 2 kohakus (from Sakai-ff), 14-15cm.... i am rearing it for one month now. Growth is good but like i have mentioned, the Hi is turning organgy.

I hope to get some tips in getting the Hi back.

Thanks,
csmy

This is probably one of the main reason why .. a koi's hi is not only dependent on water quailty , but also amount of sunlight .. it plays a huge role in hi development .. though shading your pond may make it easier on your filter, you compensate the hi development of your koi .. but , it isn't too late to add shade .. their hi could still change any minute as that is the nature of some koi

hi csmy,

U shouldn't worry about color fading. It's normal to happen when the koi grow rapidly.U can maintain the color by feeding colour food. Beside rapid growth, colur fading is caused by high water temperature.

All u can do now is to measure the koi and note the growth. if it grows, it's all right. The colour will turn back to red as the fish get matured.Hope this piece of info may enlighten u.
Best regards,

There is more to water chemistry than Ammonia, Nitrite, and Nitrate. Ph, Kh, and Gh can also have a big influence on beni. It is possible that your ph is high or your water too hard.
