new pond turned green

i have recently moved house in August so i had to build a new pond,this was completed and filled with water by late September and my old filters from my old pond.The fish was added after four weeks(had to move quick because the people who bought my old house wanted them out?).Six to eight weeks later my water has gone green?Is this because of the temperature of the water plus the plants(iris)have stopped growing and the bacteria in the filter has stopped because of the temperature?
