pond treatment?? Can't Post

I was following a thread here because my koi had red skin, one little koi had died, ordered treatment from phish pharm for septicemia, but within 24 hours all my koi were horribly white mucousy and died before the meds came. Current question, do I now treat my little (4' x 3' x 1 1/2' deep) pond with antibiotics, or just filter it and let it sit for awhile or ????? I want to add new fish, but I don't want to kill them off, the meds I received were recommended for 10 day treatment,
Oxytetracycline Powder...
Thanks for any advice....

Before you do anything else test your water and post the results along with a description of your pond and filter. What you describe sounds like too many Koi in too little water and poorly filtered. There is little other explanation for all of your fish to suddenly become irritated, produce excessive slime coat, and all die.
You need to test the ph, ammonia, nitrite, nitrate, kh, and gh of your water.
We also need to know the size of your pond (dimensions and gallonage) as well as an accurate description of your filter and pump (size, type, gallons per hour, etc...)

My question is really and truely about treating a fish-empty pond. I have had this number and size of koi happily in this pond for more than ten years, the ph ammonia etc is very stable. I am sure that the cause is that I had introduced a new fish and then I was away for 2 1/2 weeks in spring and my filter system was not cleaned by my caretakers as frequently as it should have been.
This is the question. Once a bacteria is in the water, will it dissipate with proper cleaning over time or are antibiotics required to kill bacteria in a fishless pond?
I don't need to know how to test and clean my pond, thanks though.

I didn't intend to insult your abilities, but as a new member here it appeared you may be new to the hobby as well. Sorry for the misunderstanding.
I would suggest hitting the pond with a substantial dose of Potassium Permanganate of at least 4-10ppm. You can be relatively certain of eradicating any undesirables that way and with no fish in the pond you won't have to worry about overdosing. That way you can save the medication for another time when you need it for a sick fish.
I don't know if you've ever done a PP bomb on a pond before, but it will turn your pond a deep pink while active, and slowly go brown as it goes off and becomes depleted. You can then clear the water with either Sodium Thiosulfate or Hydrogen Peroxide to clear the water. You'll have to rebuild your biofilm from scratch, but a pond-wide antibacterial treatment would present the same problem.
One thing is certain. If you go with a PP Bomb, there won't be ANY bad organics left in your pond, period.

I started to mention plants before but I got distractedBlush. A lot of Water Gardeners use it to pre-treat their new plants before putting them in a pond with fish. It doesn't harm the plants unless you dose it horribly and leave it for days at a time. It kills of any potential disease organisms or snails that might try to sneak in on new plants. Here's a handy dandy calculator for calculating proper dosage.
