sump tank filter media questions

I'll be receiving my sump tank in a few days  and would really appreciate some advice for the media I'm planning to put in.
tank info
I have a 50gallon, 1m(L)x0.6m(W)x0.3m(H) small black plastic tank which i keep 11 baby koi. In the tank I put 2 small wood log pieces and scatter some white pebbles to create some environment for the koi. I also have added a small air pump with 2 outlets to bubble a 1-ft bar and two 4cm cylindrical air stones.
Sump tank info
Sequence & (planned media):
1. settlement section(use carlnet/brushes)
2. mech filter stage(wool filter/mini ceramic rings)
3. bio filter stage(sintered glass/normal size ceramic rings)
4. pH buffering section(coral chips/oyster shell)
5. Trickle Tower(18inches of bioballs)

s1. are brushes expensive?
s2. I know this is a malaysia web forum, so I apologise to ask where can i get good bushy ones in singapore?
mech filter stage
I'm hoping to have minimal maintenance, so I initially planned to use mini ceramic rings followed by wool but cleaning of the mini ceramic rings would require some work, so i decided to just use wool after the settlement section and simply change the wool once every week.
Is this ok? any issues with this arrangement?
bio filter stage
b1. Is sintered glass rings or ceramic rings better as bio filter media?
b2. where should activated carbon chips be placed - before or after the trickle stage in a wet/dry sump tank filter?
b3. where are lava rocks used in a sump tank, if used? - bio filter or chemical filter?
b4. how much air turbulence should be introducing to this bio stage? is a simple airstone sufficient?
pH buffering section
p1. pH buffering media - coral or coral chips or oyster shell is better?
p2. how much pH media should i be using? same amount as bio media used?
p3. would introducing an airstone in this stage affect the pH buffering process?
Air Pump
Can anyone pls recommend me a QUIET air pump with at least 4 outlets? the one i have seems to be noisy and it bothers my wife. We live in a HDB flat and the tank is beside the sofa area. I intend to use the outlets as follows: 1-bar airstone, 1-4cm airstone in bio filter, 1-4cm airstone in tank, 1-4cm airstone for skimmer.
sorry for asking so many questions , and I truly appreciate any advice given. I've learnt so much from this forum and I'm glad I found it on the web
any recommendations to where in singapore can i buy filter media at good prices would be great too ?
