why is my ph higher? Can't Post

My ph is pretty stable at 8.4-8.6 but the water I use to fill the pond is 6.9-7.2 Does anyone know why the ph raises so much in my pond? I have a 40 mil liner with a little concrete to hold some stones. I would like to lower it for my Hi but I don't want to use chemicals or acid.
Thanks,
Ken

I have a strong feeling that your concrete is adding to the rise in PH levels.

I think Oz is probably right, but you might want to check your fresh water again. Pull a sample and let it rest for a few hours before testing. It is common for tap water to have low ph due to CO2 in the water. After the CO2 gases off the ph will go up.

I know concrete could raise the ph but at some point doesn't the cocrete stop doing that? The pond is about a year old.
Thanks,
Ken

At "some" point it will stop leaching lime................... at what point is always a guessing game.
Have you tested your source water after resting it yet? You might be surprised how much it can change.
