If your iron content is high enough to turn the water yellow I'd be a little concerned. You might want to consider heavily aerating it to oxidize it, add Koi clay to flock it out of solution, and dump it out of your settlement sump. Test the water for kh, gh, ph to see what it really looks like before and after to see if it is within safe parameters. You might need to circulate through a charcoal filter to remove enough to make it safe.
