THE 6TH MALAYSIAN KOI SHOW & CHAMPIONSHIP DATE: MAY 26th (Sat) ~ 27th (Sun) 2006 VENUE: SELANGOR CHINESE ASSEMBLY HALL, KUALA LUMPUR YES! It's here again.... the biggest K I SH W in town. This year we have allocated 105 tanks! We expect in excess of 800 koi entries!! We have word that Dealers are making multiple trips to Japan to source show kois for their clients. A few Jumbos have been purchased and many more high grade kois will make their way to make this a very challenging year indeed!

The team may comprise trainee judges who are merely observers. GRAND CHAMPION Only the qualified judges will select the top five(5) Kois from 80 BU and over 80 BU. When there is not enough suitable Koi from 80 BU and over 80 BU, the qualified judges shall select Koi from 75 BU. The 3 best kois out of 5 shall be shortlisted. The Grand Champion, followed by the 1st runner up and the 2nd runner up are selected by secret ballot from the 3 best kois. JUMBO KOI (A) FOR GOSANKE / JUMBO KOI (B) FOR ALL OTHER VARIETIES The qualified judges will select the Jumbo Champions from over 80 BU. Emphasis shall be on size, body shape and skeletal structure. ALL CATEGORIES- KOI JUDGING Kois are selected for the top three places for each variety within their respective size groupings. The selected Koi must be truly representative of the respective variety and should the Koi not meet the required standard, the judges may at their discretion, not to award any prize. BEST-IN-SIZE (FROM 30 BU TO 55 BU) The "Best In Size" shall be selected from all the 1st place winners of all varieties in their respective sizes. BEST IN SIZE FOR GOSANKE (60 BU TO ABOVE 80 BU) The Best-in-size for the Gosanke (Kohaku/Sanke/Showa) for each of the above indicated size only. (For the Above 80 BU, if the 4th or 5th placing Koi in the selection of Grand Champion happens to be of size above 80 BU, it shall automatically become the Best in size for above 80 BU.) BEST IN SIZE FOR NON-GOSANKE (60 BU TO ABOVE 80 BU) **NEW** The Best-in-size for the Gosanke (Kohaku/Sanke/Showa) for each of the above indicated size only. (For the Above 80 BU, if the 4th or 5th placing Koi in the selection of Grand Champion happens to be of size above 80 BU, it shall automatically become the Best in size for above 80 BU.) SUPERIOR CHAMPION The qualified judges will select the best in size winner of 76-80cm i.e. 80BU category to be the Superior Champion. If the 4th or 5th placing Koi in the selection of Grand Champion happens to be of size in the 80 BU category, it shall automatically become the Superior Champion. Judging will be by secret ballot. The Head Judge will have the casting vote in case of a tie. MATURE CHAMPION The qualified judges will select one Koi from the "Best-In-Size" winners of 70BU and 75 BU (66cm - 75cm). Judging will be by secret ballot. The Head Judge will have casting vote in the event of a tie. ADULT CHAMPION The qualified judges will select one Koi from the "Best-In-Size" winners of 55BU, 60BU and 65 BU (51cm-65cm). Judging will be by secret ballot. The Head Judge will have casting vote in the event of a tie. YOUNG CHAMPION The qualified judges will select one Koi from the "Best-In-Size" winners of 40-BU, 45-BU and 50-BU (36cm - 50 cm). Judging will be by ballot and not by show of hands. The Head Judge will have casting vote in the event of a tie. BABY CHAMPION The qualified judges will select one Koi from the "Best-In-Size" winners of 30-BU and 35-BU. Judging will be by ballot and not by show of hands. The Head Judge will have casting vote in the event of a tie. SHOW RULES & REGULATIONS 1. A) Size groupings 30 BU 30cm & under 35 BU 35cm & under 40 BU 40 cm & under 45 BU 45cm & under 50 BU 50cm & under 55 BU 55cm & under 60 BU 60cm & under 65 BU 65cm & under 70 BU 70cm & under 75 BU 75cm & under 80 BU 80cm & under >80 BU > 80cm 1. B) Koi Entry In Individual Tank In view of the presence of KHV (Koi Herpes Virus) or other problems when Kois are mixed together, the show committee has resorted to the entry of Kois in individual “tank basis”, to prevent the interaction and mixing of Kois. All participants can bring in the various varieties and sizes of Kois, and keep their own Kois (or Kois from their own source or friend) in individual tank. Judging of Kois by judges for the respective sizes and categories of Kois, shall be carried out and compared for the respective Kois from all relevant tanks. This method has been practiced in other parts of the world, with the intention to control the spread of disease, if any. 1. C) Charges For Koi Entry The charges for Koi entries shall be based on the number of tanks required, and not the number of Kois entered. However, participants are not encouraged to over crowd their tank with too many kois to avoid problems due to overcrowding. Excessive overcrowding of Kois into one tank can be rejected at the sole discretion of the show committee. Please use the following as a guide for the maximum number of Kois entered per tank:- Eg. 6 nos 60 BU Koi in a 4’ x 8’ x 1 ½ ft depth water tank - Other sizes and numbers to be adjusted accordingly. The charges for the usage of tanks for the period of the Koi Show are as follows:- (i) 4 ft x 8 ft tank ZNA-KL Koi Club Member RM 400.00 Corporate Co./Dealer / Non Member RM 600.00 (ii) 6ft diameter round tank ZNA-KL Koi Club Member RM 600.00 Corporate Co./Dealer / Non Member RM 800.00 (iii) 7½ ft diameter round tank ZNA-KL Koi Club Member RM 800.00 Corporate Co./Dealer / Non Member RM 1,000.00 Note: Any participant who wishes to change “name of Koi ownership” after registration, shall be required to apply to the Show Chairman before the official announcement of Koi show winners. An administrative charge of RM300.00 per Koi is imposed. The change of name shall be effected after payment is made at the show ground. (Please note that unless it is absolutely necessary, change of ownership is not encouraged by the Club) 1. D) Participant is to submit one application form only, for each tank entry with the number of each variety / size indicated in the entry form. Should the participant require more than one tank, they have to submit additional entry forms. 1. E) Each participant is to ensure that the number, size and variety of Koi stipulated in the entry form shall be the same at benching time. Participant is to mark clearly on each Koi bag the participant’s name and bag identification, so that the Koi can be placed in the same tank allocated by the Koi Show Committee at the show ground. When the participant has submitted application forms for more than one tank, each form shall make known that this is tank one or two out of total number of tanks submitted. 2) A) The closing date for all entries is 16th May, 2006 (Tuesday). B) The show committee reserves the right NOT to accept any Koi entries submitted even though cheque has been forwarded. Any inconvenience caused shall be much regretted. C) Acceptance preference will be given to Koi Club member's entry, and on a first come first served basis. 3) Late entries may be submitted (subject to approval) after the closing date but a late entry fee of 2 times the normal fee will be imposed. However, your co-operation is requested in getting the entries in as soon as possible to assist in our logistic / operations. Entries without cheque payment or proof of bank-in-slip to the Club’s account no. MBB014048327128 will not be accepted. Completed Entry Forms and cheque (or Bank in slip) to be made payable to Kelab Ikan Koi ZNA Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur are to be sent to: KELAB IKAN KOI ZNA MALAYSIA, KUALA LUMPUR (ZNA MALAYSIA KOI FISH CLUB, KUALA LUMPUR) No. 3 Jalan Teras 3, Kawasan Industri Teras Balakong Taman Industri Selesa Jaya 43300 Balakong, Selangor Registration # 2479/96 (Wilayah Persekutuan) Tel: 03-9283 8433 Fax: 03-9283 0530 Attn: Ms Yee 4) The Show Committee reserves the right to reject and/or remove any Koi, which is found to be sick, diseased or unsuitable for the show. 5) The competition is open to members and non-members. 6) Payment for the Show should be made together with the show entries. 7) Participants need not submit photographs of their Koi together with their Show Entry Forms. Photographs will only be needed during BENCHING on 26th May, 2006. Participants MUST submit 6 non-returnable photographs (4R size) showing the Koi clearly during benching. KOI WITHOUT PROPER PHOTOGRPAHS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO PARTICIPATE IN THE COMPETITON. We wish to remind participants to bring their fish in during the benching times as stipulated. Fish brought in after 10.00 p.m. will be rejected. 9) The sizes of Koi shall be stated by participant and is on self-declaration basis. If sizing is found to be larger than declared, the Koi will be disqualified and will not be eligible for any prize award. Participants are urged to be accurate in their sizing at benching. The show committee may check the size of Koi during benching for judging. Participants shall provide their own measuring tub, failing which; the Show’s official tub shall be used. Oversized Koi shall be disqualified / rejected. Koi that are not measured by participants will also be rejected. 10) The size of photographs must be 4R. Six (6) copies of each photograph should clearly show the Koi occupying at least two-thirds of the photograph. Only blue colored tubs should be used as background. It would be much appreciated if all participants could kindly comply with this requirement, as the same photographs would be printed on all Prize Winning Certificates. 11) The Main Prize Presentation will be held at the show venue on 27th May, 2006 (Saturday) from 3.00pm to 5.00pm. Participants are kindly requested to be properly attired when receiving prizes (No shorts and slippers). All Prize Winners are requested to be present but should they be unable to attend, they may nominate another ADULT to collect the prizes on their behalf. Please note that the Show Committee cannot be held responsible for any unclaimed prizes. 12) Benching will be from 3.00pm to 10.00pm on Friday, 26th May, 2006. No Koi will be accepted after 10.00pm. 13) On final completion of all benching, participants may inspect their Koi in their respective tanks. Should there be any queries raised regarding the classification and or size category, please notify Benching Head, or any Show Committee members immediately. 14) The show Committee will engage a contractor to take turn where possible, to provide only fresh water to participants during the show. Individual participant is expected to look after their own Koi in their own tank, including the changing, removal or siphoning out of faeces or dirty water and prohibited from making contacts or mixing of Kois at the show ground. However, the Committee cannot and will not be held responsible for any loss, damages or mortality of Kois. Individual participant is to use their own net or the net provided for their own tank only. Participant is required to bring in all the necessity, particularly their own benching tub/measuring tub (marked with their name on the tub with permanent marker), be able to show their Koi to the judges for comparison of Koi when so required during judging. (Note: Individual participant is not allowed in the show ground during judging, unless they are authorized to carry out duty required by the show committee). These individual benching / measuring tubs shall be removed by individual participant immediately after judging is completed and permitted by the Koi show committee. 15) Participants are not allowed to remove any Koi from the display tank unless approval has been obtained from the Show Chairman. Such permission will only be given when the Koi is fatally ill. 16) Participants are recommended not to feed their Koi for at least 7 days prior to the show. This is to prevent pollution of the water, which may endanger the health of Kois in the same display tank. 17) All Kois can only be removed from the display tank on 28th May, 2006 (Sunday) after 6.00 p.m. The Show Committee will not be responsible for any Koi not collected after the specified time. 18) Koi that are unhealthy, deformed or injured will not be allowed to participate in the competition. 19) After the judging has been completed, all prize winners must check the score boards at the show to ensure that the posting are in order. Should there be any errors, please inform the Registration Counter Immediately. 20) In the event of any dispute, the Show Committee shall be the sole authority for the Interpretation of Rules and Regulations. 21) The judge’s decisions are final. 22) Please observe strictly the above Benching and Debenching requirements and any other ruling on the display Board at the show ground. 23) All major prize winners (all the champions) are to bring their personal photographs (for the owner) to the Koi Club within one month after the show.
