I've never had the pleasure of meeting you before, but since you "inadvertently" posted up some of my koi and requested to know the owners, I am "owning up" to being the guilty owner of 3 of the koi you posted up. Smile

Post 47 - This 71cm Matsue female kohaku won 1st prize 75BU Kohaku.
Its tankmate, the Omosako female 77cm shiro utsuri won Superior Champion, Best In Size 80BU and 1st prize 80BU Utsurimono.

Post 48 - This 65cm Otsuka female gin rin showa won 1st prize 65BU Kin Gin Rin.

Hello Paul,
Welcome to the forum. COngratulations to you on your major wins. Some achievement for a newbie on our show circuit. Thank you for showing your Shiro. One hell of a koi. I hope you will be able to keep her in good shape and go for bigger prizes. As the top 3 kois have shown, it is possible to nurture fantastic kois to great winning form in Malaysia given the right husbnadary skills. Just a hint though. All 3 kois were kept in either chiiled or shaded ponds.. You get what I mean... Wink

Hi Paul,

Congratulations again on your 'home run' .. I still reserve my deepest regret not grabbing that marvellous shiro when she was in offer to me before AJS 2007 .. Smile

With too many shows in Indonesia, I could always expect her to be a GC on one of those Laugh

Now I am nurturing a 75bu Sakai Shiro in Japan and might be ready to take on yours next year, you'd better watch out .. Wink

Thanks for your kind words. I've been lurking here for a long time tho I've never posted. Although I'm relatively new to koi keeping, the learning curve has been very sharp indeed (no choice, had to keep those "big" investments alive!!!). And even with the help of old birds like you guys, I'm under no pretext that growing tategoi past 80cm (or indeed just keeping them alive and disease-free!) is an easy task at all. The shiro, which came in only 1 week before the show although I purchased it almost a year ago, is still finding it difficult adjusting to its new environment in my pond. I'm still considering shading my pond or installing a chiller, but stock market bad lah....getting poorer by the day Frown

Great meeting you at the show too, and congrats on your 1st runner-up! I had been eyeing your fantastic kohaku at SPKC for a long time too ever since it arrived, but Luke either said it wasn't for sale (yet) or quoted too high a price (for my budget). Eventually I bought her sibling (one year younger) at a small fraction of that price, and this was the 71cm kohaku that Thiam Hwa posted. I'm a sucker for kohakus, half of my 16 koi are kohakus! But you have a great koi there, fantastic body. Only lost GC by TWO votes, apparently! Unsure

I'm taking things a day at a time. In one year's time then we'll see which of my kois are still alive and in show condition! Until then, happy koi keeping..

Sorry for the late reply. I have been very busy lately and so have not check on the Forum.
Thank you all for coming forward to sort out the owners of those koi being posted. I am certainly
feeling more at ease now knowing who are the rightful owners.

Here are the pics of the main winners but first a little info about the Grand Champion. She was born MAy 1988. This means she is 10 years old! and still a beauty. Bred by the Shimomura koi farm a little known breeder in Niigata. She was purchased by a Mr Kyowa when tosai. She won the 80Bu 1st prize at the 2002 All Japan Show when she was 4 years old. Any one heard of this breeder?

In terms of growth rate, to achieve 80+ over in 4 year for the GC, 1st and 2nd runner, I would say it is brilliant! Wink

what more can you ask!
