Dropsy - advice required Can't Post

Hi all

I'm caring for my fathers koi while he's on holiday. This morning I discovered 2 fish dead at the bottom of the pond. After removing them from the water I saw that another wasn't looking so good.

I took a sample of water to an aquatic centre and after running a number of tests we discovered that the water is fine. I described the symptoms to the people there and they said that the other fish is showing classic signs of 'dropsy'.

Our quarantine tank is already occupied so I can't put anything in there. We have no other tank large enough to take the fish (or hooked up to any kind of filtering/pump system). The pond is 4400gallons in size (roughly 20002.796 liters) in size. I bought some Myxazin to treat the water, because of the size of the pond it means using a bottle of the treatment per day. As the other fish showed similar markings (scales, red blotches) I've had to assume that it's contagious and that other fish may be in the early stages of illness so treating the whole pond is necessary.

Can anyone advise of anything else I can do? I'm expecting the currently ailing fish to be dead by morning but is there anything I can do to try to stop the others from getting sick?

Sorry i typed a long explernation yesterday but looks like summit when wrong.

Any how dropsey is the last sighn of liver damage in koi the out look is bleek but Myxain is a good start as it is an anti bacterial remady. Maybe malachite green would be more effective and cheaper if used on a 14 day plan that i use on problem fish.

Gose like this day 1 use the recomended dosage and on day 3 use half the origonal dosage on day 7 use half the origonal dosage and again on day 11 half the origonal dosage as Malchite green dissapates fairly quickley. Do not be tempted you use formalin malchite green mix as thats only effective against white spot and needs to be used over 7 days.

But i would say dropsey is not very contagous but in most cases it is fatal.
