Koi & Sycamore Trees Can't Post

Hi

Can anyone tell me if any part of the sycamore tree is poisonous to koi?

I am asking because my QT is overhung by one of these trees which has been losing some of it's flowers, falling directly into the QT. One of my koi has red veins showing indicating it is stressed so I was wondering if the sycamore was the reason?

Thank you for your advice

Gouri

Dear Gouri

All i know is that trees and ponds don't mix well. Most trees have leaves that fall off or seeds or fruit that the fish don't eat, and they encourage birds to sit on the branches and crap in the pond.

Your best bet is to build your pond away from trees or get a chain saw and see it off.

Not to forget the root problems.

Hello the sycamore tree ( Platanus ??) will not cause problems, due to its self. What can cause problems is the fungi and other things insects ect that may be on the leaves that fall into the water! In any case trees , ponds and pumps dont go together well!
