Koi growth/breeding hormone/endorfin/etc. Can't Post

I have recently read articles relative to Koi secreation of enzynes/endorfins/hormones/??..(something!) that is done when there are too many Koi in a pond.... Primarly, I understand that changing about 5/10% of the water on a weekly basis is to control the nitrate levels of the pond . . . I would assume that this also would aid in the 'dumping' of the aforementioned enzynes/etc which are responsible for reduced growth/etc . . .
Is there a product on the market that is specificly directly toward the control of this situation...or is the current solution to the situation the weekly 'dumping' of the pond water... (Understand that the real solution is to increase the size of the pond!!!)
Additionally, is there a product on the market that aids in the breeding process?
Thanks,
Jim

Dear jimar1

Calhoun did some experiments on rat populations in the 1960. He was intrested in overcrowding check out his results and apply it to fish people or any animal on the planet.

But i would say if you have a pond thats packed like a sardine can with like 2oo gallons of water, your best bet is to have a filter with a 4000 gallon plus settlement chamber.

I understand that you can get hormone injections to encorage fish to spawn but i'm not sure if you can get it for koi.

Thanks for your reply.. No, the pond isnt packed... is small but not packed... just seems that the several times I have unfortuneately had to 'restock' for various reasons... the fish seems to grow quite fast for the first 2/3 months and then slow.. so just thought that maybe I had a problem... Only problem right now, after 2.5 months is the fish continue to be scared... swim around a large pot in the pond... only swim out into the pond when fed...else around the pot!!! ...at this time they are about 6/7 inches in length...Jim
