Koi hurt his front fin ??????????

Hi everyone,
Not sure how my koi hurt his front fin. Right on the edge. It is red and looks like his fin has two lines on the very very edge. Looks like he might of hurt himself on a rock. Not sure what he did. I am also not sure if I should just leave it alone or do something?? He doesn't use that fin much at all. He didn't even want to swim to eat, but he finally did. It is red. But those two lines on the very edge is very very red.
So my question is: leave it alone or try to heal it with meds?? Thanks Lynda
PS. It is a shame that the bear had a good dinner on our favorite koi kids. We replaced two of them. This koi that is hurt is about 12-14". He was very healthy. That is why I think it is an injury.
