Marcus,
Pls be more descriptive of the condition. Is it sitting at bottom of pond? or Hanging around the surface? Since when? Eating?

Obviously the koi is unwell, but without more info, wont be able to help much except to advice you to isolate the koi in a quarantine tank (QT). you need to salt your QT with 0.5% salt and if you have anti bacteria medication like S26 or Interpet anti bacteria, follow their prescribed dosage; add that to the water. Keep koi for 4 days in this and start changing 10 % water from 5th day onwards. DO NOT feed to prevent water contamination.. Observe koi to see if condition improves.

Make sure the water is dechlorinated and provide lots of aeration.

Try the above, it shud help.

Hi Hwong,

Sorry I typed in the description but didnt know why it was not posted. I tested my water for PH, Nitrite and Ammonia, none were bad.

Only change was I added a baby koi without quarantine. But this koi was in singapore for more than a month. And the pond it came from looks OK to me.

Today I lost 2 of my big koi. I was lost...didnt know what to do...the gills look ok, and general condition looks ok, except the skin is red.

I changed 10% water and added salt to 0.3%...nothing help...didnt look like disease to me but water parameters are good...didnt know what to do now...will PP help?

Marcus, the new koi cud have been the culprit. Never add koi without QT. Why dont you med the whole pond with S26. It is widely available..

Hwong is absolutely right, the new koi have give all your koi Parasite. or at worst, KHV. If the kohaku red turn yellow in patches, you probably have a serious problem. KHV appears when temperature fluctuate from 50F to 72F in a couple time then all the fish will be affected. There is no cure for that. It can wipe out your entire pond in only couple days. If in your area has a Koi club, please contact them. and do not let any of your koi out. Gill look nasty but for some just look like dead meat. the only sure notice, in my experience is the red of kohaku just turn out yellow in patches.
If not, water parameter, too much bateria and parasite have made damages, please read on my previous post the way to combat bacteria and parasite. and keep posting us the progress. thanks for posting
samantha
