red spot is just a start of something that koi do not like. in case it have been there for weeks, parasite is ruled out. Please read my previous post to vippin about redness. Feed too much, too much bacteria, too much salt, too much rain, overcrowed..and so on are the cause. Please check all these element then you will correct them properly. If all are OK and you still have redness, basicly, you have a very weak koi. Friend of mine, she has a large Kohaku, every time she feed them 2 times a day, then he has redness. if only one time a day, then it's OK. On the koi with lesion, clean the wound with q tip of Iodine then cover with neoprorine then cover all again with dental powder. few days altter, dental power will broke down do the process again but do not apply iodine. Koi are ornamental pet, very weak, There is a trend in Japan they do it all again by breeding a wide carp with kohaku. i have a chance to see these, 1 year old , 16" very strong, but also not so beauty. The man have a whole bowl about 20 of them called Hybrid Koi, none of them are sold!. samantha
