New Koi Owner Needs Some Help Can't Post

I have two large concrete fish ponds. They are around 8x8 @ 4-4 1/2 feet deep. I purchased 12 butterfly koi. I put six in each pond. One pond the fish are great; eating, swimming around acting fine. The second pond I put the other six butterfly koi in. I ordered them seperately( six each order). I also made sure the six i received were the six i put into the ponds. I didn't mix and match. Well anyway the koi in the second pond were great as well for the first 3-4 days. swimming, and eating fine. Now all six fish in my second pond don't move. they sit on the bottom of the pond not eating and not moving. they swim away rapidly when they see me come up to the pond, but find a place in the corner and just lay there. Everything is fine in both ponds. Tested them, They both have the same exact pump and filter, and before i put the koi into the ponds the ponds were running for almost a month. I have no idea what has happened. Could it be the water temp.(56 degrees today) They have been acting like this for about a week. Im a little worried.

What are your water parameters, especially in regards to:

*PH
*Ammonia
*Nitrites

Given that you introduced a large number of koi to both ponds in one go, keep an eye on the ammonia and nitrite levels. Your bacterial population of nitrifying bacteria will have already begun to grow and soon in good hope your ammonia and nitrites will approach 0mg/l.

Everything water quality wise is completely normal. ammonia, ph, nitrate, nitrite. I purchased test kits before the fish and have been testing the ponds on a regular basis. thats why i'm lost. If any of the water tests were bad at least i'd have a place to start.

Dear discodave

If both the ponds are equal in value then it must be the supplier. One never knows for sure the treatment our fish have had before we buy them. The conditions and quarentene, water quality ect that they have had.

Always good to vet the suppliers first check them out and see if they have a reputation or they are just after a fast buck.
