Pale gill Can't Post

hi,

This morning one of my Koi (30cm) died Frown. I noticed that both side of the gill are in pale color. Normally even a fish died the gill color remain red (am i correct ?). So is this koi infected with some kind of desease? I did some search and found that this desease causes the koi to lost the blood thru the gill. So eventually the koi died due to all the blood drain out.

FYI : When i bought the koi 6 months ago, it is very healthy. Big head and body. After sometime, The body begin to shrink (i mean gettting thinner shape). just imagine a big head with a skinny body. But the koi would swim as normal and eat normal. No matter how much i fed this koi...the body is still very skinny.

Question: is this koi effected with some kind of desease, the moment the koi body get skinny???

Thanks....gurus......

regards,
Koiluv

Re: [KoiLuv] Pale gill [In reply to] Can't Post

pale gill can be many problems, but basicly oxygen do not go thru. A messy pale gill is a sign of parasite attack or KHV. it's too late now to check for parasite. Just keep an eye on the rest of the fish. I never have experience of a Koi just get skinny, I have a lot the otherway around, so i cannot answer you.

anaemia would explain why an otherwise healthy looking koi would fade away. the list of causes for anaemia is however extreamly long, not all of them however is contagious.
