you did the right thing, as far as the pond, parasite without host (living creature that they can hook on and live on whatever pass near him on the host skin) will not survive over 2 hours. In very cold temperature, Fluke , fluke eggs and Costia can form a cover and stay dormant to 6 months without any host. But that all to it. If your temperature is not very cold, a dry pond in 1 or 2 days will eliminate all parasites.

Could have treated the entire pond as a quarantine tank and potassium permanganate bomb it at 2mg/L. Pond needs to be free of organic debries. PP is more toxic at higher pH. But I do like spelling a pond to get rid of bugs and taking steps to ensure than no new ones are introduced. Good luck.

If your fish are in quarentine you should go all out on the pond and the equipment you use. Over dose like crazy. Chuck in a jar of Pottassium Permagnigate say 750 grams and flush it throught the whole system. Any plants rocks and other aquatic life in your pond should be heaved into a dusbin. Let the pond stew in this for a few days and add a couple of kilos of salt bleach malachite green metherline blue formaldihyde and any other chemicals you can think of and stir well and just for good measure throw in all your nets bowls spare pumps ect.

then change the water after a week or to.
