disease diagnose please Can't Post

can anyone please tell me what the problem may be with my fish, i have already lost one approx. 3 months ago, the upper fin is not standing anymore, the fish is jumping, floating head down, the fins have become red and it looks like the fish is rotting at his tail.

i have isolated him from the other and put some salt in his tank.

thanks for any help and happy new year

Dear floflodr

I would guess that your fish are suffering from bad water quality. High ammonia levels in the pond are coursing this kind of behavoir and the symptoms on your fish.

Do 25 % water change check your filters and add air to the pond. Do 15% water changes every week and invest some cash in a water test kit that will test PH ammonia nitrites and nitrates. Look after the water and the fish will look after themselfs.

Hope this helps good luck

that's a fish with a generalised inflamation of the blood vessels. most likely due to gram nagative bacterial infection/ septecaemia. most likely due to poor water parameter or stress.

it's pretty common decease on koi, gold fish, called fin rot and mouth rot. basicly, in this time of the year, fish inmune system is very weak, bacteria in pond is high and have a upper hand, it attack the fish where at its weakest point and slowly eat up. You can reduce bacteria content in your pond by changing new water and increase koi defend system by adding .3% salt. you also can clean up the wound by using a qtip with iodine. Iodine sold at nay pharmacy store or walmart..I am having one now in my pond, and it's hidden in his mouth, it's be allright hope the mouth will come back to normal.
